Investigation continues in pedestrian accident
FAIRVIEW TWP — Still reeling from the death of her son Saturday night, Karyn Ellenberger is waiting for answers about what led to him being hit by a vehicle on Haysville Road.
State police in Butler continue to investigate the accident that claimed the life of 20-year-old Brandon Ellenberger.
Although his mother maintains Brandon was not at fault for the accident, police have not filed any charges against the driver, Machelle Slagle of Bruin.
Slagle could not be reached for comment. Police did not state her age.
Ellenberger, who witnessed the accident, said her son was walking across the road to reach his aunt's house, which is in their neighborhood.
She said the time of the accident, which was 10:48 p.m., should not have been a factor.
"There is (street) lighting," Ellenberger said.
She said members of her family often cross the street in the spot where her son was hit.
Police report Slagle's vehicle was southbound on the road when it struck the man.
His funeral was Wednesday.
