Three Butler County high school soccer teams will be involved in PIAA playoff games on Tuesday.
They include:
Girls• In Class AA, Mars (22-0) will play District 10 runner-up Villa Maria at 6 p.m. at North Allegheny High.• In Class A, Karns City (17-4) will face Springdale, the third-place team from the WPIAL, at 5:30 p.m. at Clarion University.
BoysIn Class AA, Mars (14-6-2) will battle District 9 champion Bradford at 7:30 p.m. at DuBois Area High School.
CLARION Moniteau (5-5) will face Brookville (8-2) in a mutual District 9 Class AA football playoff opener at 7 p.m. Saturday at Clarion University’s Memorial Stadium.The winner will face top-seeded Brockway the following week.
BANGKOK — Tiger Woods met the prime minister of Thailand as he received VIP treatment during a short visit to his mother's home country.Woods will take part in a one-day, charity skins tournament Monday on his first visit to Thailand in 10 years. The event is part of celebrations marking King Bhumibol's 60th year on the Thai throne.Woods also made an early morning visit to pay respects to the ailing 82-year-old king.
CLEVELAND - Patriots wide receiver Wes Welker and Lions rookie defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh have something in common — they're part-time kickers.Welker was forced into kicking duty Sunday after Stephen Gostkowski was hurt in the first half against the Browns. Welker drilled an extra point with 6:37 left in the second quarter.It's the first time Welker has kicked since 2004, when he made a field goal and extra point as a rookie for Miami.The 307-pound Suh lined up for an extra point against the Jets moments after kicker Jason Hanson was injured, but Suh's kick hit the right upright.
