Joseph T. Jansen

Joseph T. Jansen, 90, of Butler, formerly of the North Side, died Wednesday at the Evergreen Nursing Center, Harmony.

Born Dec. 19, 1919, in Aavik, Norway, he was the son of Knute and Margrethe (Jakobsen) Jansen.

Mr. Jansen was a World War II U.S. Army veteran who was awarded five Bronze Stars.

He was a very active member of the Carpenters' Local Union 211 for 71 years. Mr. Jansen also served 21 years as an officer for the union and was the founder and former president of Retirees Club 64.

He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Connoquenessing.

He was an avid bowler.

He is survived by three sons, Charles Jansen (Patti) of Connellsville, Raymond Jansen (Sue) of Evans City and Leonard Jansen (Linda) of Millvale. Also surviving are six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Alice (Schafer) Jansen who died Dec. 21, 1991; a sister, Jennie Larsen; and a brother, Knute Jansen.

<B>JANSEN</B> — Friends of Joseph T. Jansen, who died Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2010, will be received from 1 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at <B>Boylan Funeral Home</B>, 324 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
