Richard L. Hillard, 72, of Butler died of unexpectedly of natural causes at 10:45 p.m. Saturday at his home.

Born April 15, 1938, in Hilliards, Venango Township, he was the son of the late Alton Hillard and the late Sarah Bell Hillard.

Mr. Hillard was a union electrician working out of IBEW 5 in Pittsburgh for 45 years until his retirement.

He was a member of the Chicora Moose Lodge and a social member of the Cherry Valley VFW.

He enjoyed being at his camp in Knox.

Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Barbara Wilson Hillard, who he married Oct. 7, 1960; a son, Dan Hillard of Butler; a brothers, Wallace Hillard and his wife, Peggy, of Butler; two sisters, Helen Ferguson and her husband, Burton, of Grove City and Debbie Sweeney and her husband, Tom, of Harrisville; and his dog and companion, Max.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Edwin Hillard.

<B>HILLARD</B> — Friends of Richard L. Hillard, who died Saturday, Oct. 9, 2010, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the <B>STEIGHNER FUNERAL HOME</B>, 111 E. Slippery Rock and Main streets, Chicora, with services following at 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Leonard Goughler, pastor of the New Haven Church of God of Prophecy, officiating.
