Slivinske

Catherine Ursula Slivinske, 80, of Forest, Va., passed away Monday.

She was born Nov. 12, 1929, in Wilkes-Barre, Pa., and raised with a strong Catholic background. She was born into a family that immigrated from Poland and lived the American dream of starting and owning their own business, the Chokola Soda Pop Factory.

Catherine married Glenn Slivinske and helped support their family and his career through progressive moves from Wilkes-Barre to Columbus, Ohio; Syracuse, NY.; Butler and finally to their home of 32 years in Lynchburg, Va.

Her contribution to her family was her devotion to raising the family in a loving, Christian home with good, strong moral values.

She is survived by five children, Cheryl Hartshorne, Karon Cumberland, Glenn Slivinske, Gregg Slivinske and Janelle Slivinske; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Her children remember their mother for her honesty and directness, her strength and determination and her charitable contributions made throughout her life. Catherine admirably gave a lifelong devotion of love and care to her family and grandchildren and will forever be remembered fondly in their hearts.
