Opal Ruth Everton, 89, of White Oak, Allegheny County, formerly of Butler, died at 6:30 a.m. Wednesday in the Senior Care Plaza in McKeesport.

Born March 21, 1921, in Butler, she was the daughter of the late Garth Weigle and Mabel Davis Weigle.

Mrs. Everton was a department manager for the Montgomery Ward store in Butler. She worked many years as an election official.

She was a life member of the North Street Christian Church in Butler, where she served as financial secretary, deaconess and was a member of the Homebuilders' Class. She was a member of the Butler Woman's Club, the Penn State Cooperative Agricultural Extension of Butler County and the Women's Card Club.

She enjoyed crafts, church work and playing cards.

Mrs. Everton graduated from Butler High School in 1939.

Mrs. Everton is survived by one daughter, Kathie and her husband Ray Beard of White Oak; three grandchildren, Jeff and his wife, Paula, Everton of Butler, Kelly Everton of Butler and Martin Beard of White Oak; six great-grandchildren, Reanna, Zander, Emmitt, Daniel, Douglas and Emma; one brother, Art and his wife, Phyllis, Weigle of Butler; one daughter-in-law, Peg Baron of Butle; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Everton was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Everton, who she married April 13, 1940, and who passed away June 7, 1992; two sons, Richard and Carl Everton; and three sisters, Mary Allen, Esther Shields and Virginia Hambleton.

<B>EVERTON </B>— Friends of Opal Ruth Everton, who died Wednesday, Oct. 13, 2010, will be received at the <B>Thompson-Miller Funeral Home</B>, 124 E. North St., Butler, on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be at the funeral home at 11 a.m. Monday with Pastor Robert C. Huber of the North Street Christian Church and Pastor Ray Beard, son-in-law of the deceased and pastor of the First Christian Church of McKeesport, officiating. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Burial Estates.Memorial donations may be made to North Street Christian Church, 226 W.
