George A. Slupe
George Albert Slupe, 73, of Lyndora died at 5:15 a.m. Saturday in the VNA Inpatient Hospice.
Born Nov. 30, 1936, in Butler, he was the son of the late Frank L. Slupe and Dora M. (Wise) Slupe.
Mr. Slupe was employed at Pullman Standard and then went to work for Robinson Industries in Zelienople. After that, he worked at the U.S. Post Office in Lyndora.
He was a member of the American Legion Post 778 of Lyndora and the Meridian Vets Club.
Mr. Slupe enjoyed woodworking and family get-togethers.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Mr. Slupe is survived by his wife, Rose Ann (Jurysta) Slupe, who he married May 3, 1958; two sons, George Kevin Slupe and his wife, Julie, of Yukon, Okla., and Kirby E. Slupe and his wife, Qin, of Oklahoma City, Okla.; four daughters, Kim Hirsch and her husband, Rick, of Butler, Kelly Jenkins and her husband, Keith, of Connoquenessing, Kathy Slupe of Lyndora and Karen Slupe and her fiance, Dan Fritz, of Butler; nine grandchildren, Jason, Dawn, Weston, Ashlan, Alaina, Lauren, Julia, Keith Jr. and Jeremiah; one great-granddaughter, Carissa; two brothers, Charles Slupe and his wife, Elaine, of Winchester, Va., and Frank L. Slupe Jr. and his wife, Carole, of Huntsville, Ala.; one sister, Velma Baxter of Butler; and numerous nieces and nephews.
<B>SLUPE</B> — Friends of George Albert Slupe, who died Saturday, Oct. 16, 2010, will be received at the <B>Thompson-Miller Funeral Home</B>, 124 E. North St., Butler, Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be at the First United Methodist Church, 200 E. North St., Butler, Thursday, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Dr. J.
