John B. Sweeney
John B. Sweeney, 66, of Washington Street, Bruin, passed away on Friday at his home following a lingering illness.
He was born in Bruin on Sept. 7, 1944, and was a son of the late Harry William Sweeney and Edith Norris Sweeney.
He was a Protestant, and he retired from the Indspec Chemical Co. of Petrolia on Sept. 7, 1999, as a carpenter after 35¼ years.
He served in the U.S. Army in the South Pacific from 1965 until 1967. He was a member of the American Legion Post 488 of Kaylor.
John enjoyed socializing with his friends.
He is survived by his son, Terry Sweeney of Bruin; his daughter, Cathy Ealey and her husband, Terry, of Hooker; his two grandchildren, Brook Ealey of Hooker and Kailey Sweeney of Butler; one brother, Larry Sweeney of Butler; two sisters, Doris Cooper and her husband, Ellis, of Chicora, and Patty Brown and her husband, Tom, of Butler; his friend, Carol A. Lambert of Bruin, and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Frank Sweeney and George Sweeney, and a half-brother, Roy Cook.
<B>SWEENEY</B> — Friends of John B. Sweeney, who died Friday, Oct. 22, 2010, will be received at the <B>Richard D. Hillis Funeral Home</B> in Petrolia on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be at the funeral home on Tuesday at 11 a.m. with family friend Roger Whited officiating.
