McGarvey

Pearl J. McGarvey, 82, of Dogwood Road, Chicora, died at 2:45 p.m. Wednesday at the Chicora Medical Center following a lingering illness.

Born in Boyers, March 25, 1928, she was the daughter of John and Ethel McCandless Hutchison.

She was a 1947 graduate of Grove City High School and later graduated from The Butler Business College.

Mrs. McGarvey was a longtime active member of the St. John's Reformed Church in Chicora.

She was a homemaker. She enjoyed music, walking in the woods and puzzles. She had a keen interest in accounting; and in her earlier years, she had been an office manager at Lloyd Johnson in Butler.

She is survived by her husband, H. Victor McGarvey, who she married Feb. 11, 1956, in Butler. Also surviving are a daughter, Sandra L. Geibel and her husband, Dennis C., of Chicora; a son, Brian V. McGarvey and his wife, Diane, of Chicora; seven grandchildren, Kara Geibel of Allison Park and Brittni Geibel, Emileigh Geibel, Lauren McGarvey, Aaron McGarvey, Ethan McGarvey and Evan McGarvey, all of Chicora; three sisters-in-law, Alene Larkin of Beaumont, Texas, Eleanor Smith of Chicora, and Annabelle McKinnis of Sarver; and a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, W. LeRoy Hutchison, Paul E. Hutchison, Francis Hutchison and Boyd Hutchison; and a sister, Florence Williams.

McGarvey, who died Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2010, will be received from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the <B>Hile Funeral Home </B>of Chicora, 339 Chicora Fenelton Road, Chicora, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the St. John's Reformed Church, 334 W. Slippery Rock St., Chicora, where funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. with the Rev. John H. Pistorius, church pastor, officiating.
