William Clair Clark
William Clair Clark, 83, of West Sunbury died peacefully at his home Thursday with his family at his side.
He was born Jan. 22, 1927, to the late Alvin Ellsworth Clark and Myrtle Mae (Bell) Clark in Salem Township.
He served faithfully as a deacon at the Faith Bible Fellowship Church for 20 years while residing in San Diego, Calif., with his late wife, Ruth, before returning home to spend his remaining years with his children.
He enjoyed fishing and playing baseball with his grandchildren, listening to bluegrass music, driving in an RV across the country and weekly Saturday breakfast with his family.
He served in the U.S. Navy as a second class seaman on the USS Fall Water during World War II. He was also a volunteer firefighter for Greenwood Village and Lyndora, as well as a retired business owner of Clark's Dry Cleaning in San Diego, Calif.
He is survived by two brothers, Paul Clark of San Diego, Calif., and Jack Clark of Greenville; five children, Vicky Clark Burry of West Sunbury, David J. Clark and his wife, Debbie, of Butler, Harold W. Clark and his wife, Beth, of West Sunbury, Melissa L. Schandelmeier and her husband, Kevin, of West Sunbury and Jeannie Onufer of Freeport; 14 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth; five brothers, Frank, Edwin, Dean, Ronnie and Gerald; his sister, Helen Murphy; and two grandsons, Kenneth Jason Fleeger and Jonathan William Clark.
