Ann F. Cingolani
Ann F. Cingolani, 72, of North Washington Street died Saturday afternoon surrounded by her family at the VNA Inpatient Hospice.
Born in Butler, July 17, 1938, she was a daughter of the late George A. and Cecelia Birckbichler Leitem.
A 1956 graduate of Mount Alvernia High School in Millvale, she received a bachelor's degree in elementary eduction in 1961 at Duquesne University.
After college, Ann taught in Pittsburgh and at the St. Peter Elementary School in Butler. She had been secretary and bookkeeper for the family business, Koch Hardware, for 25 years until it closed in 1997.
She was active in various committees, clubs and boards over the years. She was a member of a 500 card club for 43 years, the Butler Literary Club, the Rainbows for All God's Children organization, a former board member of the Butler Public Library and was a founding board member and first president of the Butler Montessori School.
Mrs. Cingolani was a member of the St. Paul Catholic Church, the St. Paul Women and Christian Mothers, served as a lector and Eucharistic minister, as well as chairwoman for the needlepoint project where she spent many hours making chair and kneeler covers for the sanctuary during the church renovation.
She volunteered for many years with the Butler Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. In 1983, she was appointed to the Butler Memorial Hospital Board of Directors and served with five CEOs in various capacities, including secretary and treasurer. She was involved in expansion programs that include the Heart and Vascular Center, creation of many satellite centers and the groundwork for the new patient tower. It was following her diagnosis of multiple myeloma in September 2004 that Ann decided to resign from the board of directors after 21 years.
Surviving are her husband of 42 years, John K. "Jack" Cingolani, who she married Jan. 27, 1968; two children, John K. (Nicole) Cingolani Jr. of State College and Lisa (Bill) Clinefelter III of Cranberry Township; two grandsons, Jacob and Lukas Clinefelter; a brother, the Rev. Leon Leitem, O.F.M., Cap. of Harrisburg; two sisters, Sister Mary Theresa Leitem, O.S.F., of the Sisters of St. Francis Motherhouse at Mount Alvernia, Millvale and Betty Lou (John) Nemcek of Buffalo Township; and several nieces and nephews.
<B>CINGOLANI</B> — Friends of Ann F. Cingolani, who died Saturday, Oct. 30, 2010, will be received at the <B>Geibel Funeral Home</B>, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday. A Mass of Christian burial will be concelebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the St. Paul Catholic Church, 128 N. McKean St., Butler. Her brother, Father Leon Leitem, O.F.M., Cap. and Father Neil McCaulley, a close family friend, will officiate. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Butler.In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the VNA Inpatient Hospice, 115 Technology Drive, Butler, PA 16001; or to the Butler Hospital Foundation, 911 E.
