Donald G. Vidic
Donald Gregor Vidic of West Sunbury passed away peacefully at the Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center at 1:41 a.m. today surrounded by his wife, daughters, family friend Stacey Campbell and the caring staff of Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Don was born on the family farm in Clay Township, April 28, 1933, to the late George and Sophie Mary Yoch Vidic.
He graduated in 1951 from West Sunbury High School. He worked for 43 years for Swank Construction Co., starting as a carpenter and retiring as a superintendent in charge of bridge building.
Don loved to work and after retiring, he continued to work at home. He especially liked farming, gardening and mowing grass. He also enjoyed hunting, spotting deer and NASCAR racing.
He was a member of the West Sunbury United Presbyterian Church.
Don married Iris “Jean” Rieger Vidic on June 24, 1954. She survives him. He also is survived by his three daughters and their families: Karen and Keith Hall, their daughter, Kelli Dawn and her fiance, Ryan Michael; Colette and Mike Kohlmeyer and their children, Aubrie Schnelle and her husband, Mike, Clay Kohlmeyer and Garth Kohlmeyer; and Elizabeth and Dale Fennell and their children, Brian and Gabby. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Edward Vidic; and his sisters, Lillian Yartz and Pauline Glenn.
<B>VIDIC </B>—Viewing for Donald Gregor Vidic, who died Monday, Nov. 8, 2010, will be from 2 to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday at the <B>William F. Young Funeral Home</B>, Main Street, West Sunbury. The funeral service will follow at 4:30 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Bill King, of West Sunbury United Presbyterian Church, officiating Burial will be in the West Sunbury Union CemeteryIn lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the Moniteau Food Pantry, 625 Hooker Road, West Sunbury, PA 16061.
