Truck falls off jack stand, kills father of 3
FORWARD TWP — A 44-year-old man died Saturday when a pickup truck he was working on with his son came off a jack stand and crushed him underneath, authorities said.
Mark Scholl was pronounced dead at UPMC Passavant Cranberry of injuries in the 2 p.m. accident at his 277 Glade Run Road home.
Butler County coroner William Young III said Scholl likely died of a chest compression.
A husband and father of three, Scholl apparently had been working on the full-sized pickup for months, neighbors said.
His 17-year-old son was helping when the truck, which had been on a pair of jack stands, came off and fell on Scholl, said neighbor Donald Krebs.
The son called his older brother, who was at work. The 20-year-old raced home and the brothers were able to lift the truck off their father, said Chief Mark Adomaitis of the Evans City Volunteer Fire Department.
