Ada Mae McDowell
Ada Mae McDowell, 86, formerly of Slippery Rock where she lived for 54 years, died at 4:55 a.m. Sunday at the Hospice of Western Reserve, Olmsted Falls, Ohio.
She was born in Wilkinsburg, Oct. 19, 1924, the daughter of Raymond Earl and Minnie Esther Krapt Duncan.
Mrs. McDowell was a homemaker. She was a member of the Center Presbyterian Church in Grove City. She was a 1942 graduate of Grove City High School.
While living in Slippery Rock and raising her family with her husband, Mrs. McDowell was a member of the Center Presbyterian Church of Slippery Rock and was active in the Women's Association with in the church.
Survivors include seven children, Gertrude Ann Steffes and her husband, Robert, of Monroe, Mich., David Norman McDowell and his wife, Linda, of Harrisville, Richard Earl McDowell, Crystal Falls, Mich., Esther Louise McDowell and her husband, Chris Yochens, Sagamore Hills, Ohio, Nancy Jane Rally, York, Joan Maree Allen and her husband, Andrew Wilson, of Grove City, and Andrew Duncan McDowell and his wife Jennifer, Northridgeville, Ohio.
She is also survived by a sister, Carolyn McKenzie and her husband, Clark, of Oakmont; three brothers, George Duncan and his wife, Jane, Raymond Duncan, Jr. and his wife, Elsie, all of Grove City, and Frank Duncan and his wife Elizabeth, Adamsville; 13 grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Fillman “Red” McDowell, who she married on Nov. 2, 1943, and who died June 14, 1996; her parents; and a brother, James Duncan.
<B>MCDOWELL — </B>Friends of Ada Mae McDowell, who died Sunday, Nov. 21, 2010, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the <B>CUNNINGHAM FUNERAL HOME,</B> 306 Bessemer Avenue, Grove City. Visitation will continue from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Center Presbyterian Church, 333 Center Church Road, Grove City, until the time of service at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Bill Woodman, pastor, officiating.
