Edith M. Ford
Edith M. Ford, 86, formerly of Carbon Street and Third Street in Butler died Saturday at the VNA Inpatient Hospice in Butler Township.
She was born Dec. 16, 1923, in Butler, a daughter of the late James Claire and Garnet Kelly Young.
Edith was a bookkeeper for Dr. Donald Fox in Butler for 28 years until her retirement in 1995. She also had formerly worked as an operator for Bell Telephone in Butler.
She was a member of St. Paul Roman Catholic Church in Butler. She was also a volunteer for the Butler Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. She was a member of the Hostess Shoppe Committee and ran the cash register at the Hostess Shoppe for more than 22 years.
Her husband, Gerald P. Ford, who she married Nov. 8, 1948, preceded her in death on Nov. 15, 1986.
Surviving are three sons and their wives, William M. Ford of Las Vegas, Nev., Robert J. and Karen Ford of Wexford and Patrick G. and Cindy Ford of Butler; a daughter, Jean M. Klann and her husband, Robert Klann, of Butler; two sisters, Mrs. Anna Ruth Madden of Ft. Walton Beach, Fla., and Dorothy J. Hetrick of Daytona Beach, Fla.; two brothers, James C. Young Jr. and his wife, Genevieve Young, of Tucson, Ariz., and Robert L. Young of Butler; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Her sister, Leah Ralston, preceded her in death.
<B>FORD — </B>Friends of Edith M. Ford, who died Saturday, Nov. 20, 2010, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the<B> GEIBEL FUNERAL HOME,</B> 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Paul Roman Catholic Church in Butler. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.The family asks that memorial donations be made to either the VNA Inpatient Hospice 115 Technology Drive, Butler, PA 16001 or the Butler County Humane Society, 1015 Evans City Road, Renfrew, PA 16053.St. Paul’s Guild and Christian Mothers will meet at 9:40 a.m. Wednesday at the church to recite the Rosary.
