UConn QB joins The Rock?

SLIPPERY ROCK — Former University of Connecticut quarterback Cody Endres has indicated he is enrolling at Slippery Rock University for the spring semester.

The 6-foot-4, 232-pound Endres disclosed his plans to SRU head football coach George Mihalik.

“He indicated to me that he is enrolling here, but nothing's official until it happens,” Mihalik said.

Endres is a 2007 Trinity High School graduate who threw for 2,450 yards, 20 touchdowns and nine interceptions at the Washington (Pa.)-based school. He started the first three games for UConn this season, completing 45 of 75 passes for 471 yards, five TDs and two interceptions.

Endres was suspended from the team Oct. 23 for the remainder of the academic year for violation of university policies. He had served a one-month suspension earlier in his career with the Huskies.

He has one year of football eligibility remaining. SRU's spring semester begins Jan. 18.

“I had a very positive meeting with the young man ... good conversation,” Mihalik said.

Endres started six games as a redshirt sophomore at UConn following a season-ending shoulder injury to regular starter Zach Fraser. He beat out Fraser for the starting job last offseason.

Endres threw for a career-high 378 yards at West Virginia in 2009.

The Rock is coming off a 6-5 season with redshirt freshman Ryan Sabo at quarterback. Sabo completed 124 of 245 passes for 1,388 yards, five TDs and 11 interceptions,.

SRU ranked 14th in the 16-team Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference with 128.8 passing yards per game this season.

In other Rock football news, running back Akeem Satterfield's preliminary hearing scheduled for Dec. 29 was postponed until later this month. An exact date has not been determined.

Satterfield faces multiple charges — including aggravated assault and disorderly conduct — following a disturbance at an on-campus party in November. He rushed for 1,352 yards and 20 touchdowns this season.
