4 unions OK new contracts with county
Four union have voted to accept new contracts with Butler County.
Workers from four bargaining units on Thursday approved new four-year contracts with an average 3 percent pay hike each year.
The agreements cover roughly 300 employees who work in the government center, the courthouse and the 911 dispatch center. They are represented by the Service Employees International Union Local 668.
Al Smith, business agent for SEIU, said the vote tallies show workers viewed the contract terms as being reasonable.
“They saw the deal was fair for both sides,” he said.
County Commissioner Dale Pinkerton, board chairman, agreed.
“I’m thrilled that they signed,” he said.
The commissioners are expected to OK the contracts next week.
