GROVE CITY — Longtime Grove City College employee Robert Smith will receive the college's Athletic Heritage Award Feb. 12 at Grove City's Athletic Hall of Fame ceremony.

Smith worked in a variety of administrative positions at GCC from 1970 until his retirement in 2001. He spent 21 years as director of public information and sports information.

The Athletic Hall of Fame ceremonies and Heritage Award presentation will take place after GCC's home basketball doubleheader with Geneva College.

Tickets for the ceremony, reception and dinner are $25.

MERCER — Mercer Raceway Park will enter its 60th season with a new management team.Kristin Swartzlander, a sports public relations and marketing professional, is the track's new promoter.Butler resident Bill Altman, who bought the facility in April, formed a partnership with Gregg McCandless.Mercer's season begins March 26.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Artemi Panarin scored twice and Russia overcame a three-goal deficit in the third period to stun Canada 5-3 to win gold at the World Junior Hockey Championships Wednesday.Yevgeni Kuznetsov had three assists as Russia scored five times in a 16:11 span to win its first gold medal since 2003 and 13th overall.Earlier, Chris Kreider scored twice to lead the United States to a 4-2 win over Sweden in the bronze-medal game.
