Eleanor Ritts

Eleanor W. Ritts, 103, formerly of West Fulton Street, died Friday at Butler Memorial Hospital.

Born Aug. 2, 1907, in Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of the late Frederick Weitzel and Eleanor Graham Weitzel.

Mrs. Ritts was the executive director of the Butler County Board of Assistance, retiring in 1972.

She was a member of the Covenant Presbyterian Church, where she was very active. Mrs. Ritts was a former member of the Soroptimist Club, the Senior Women's Club and was active with Meals on Wheels.

She graduated from Lake Erie College with a degree in liberal arts.

Mrs. Ritts is survived by one son, William E. Ritts and his wife, Patricia, of Worthington; two daughters, Mrs. Mary Hammonds of Butler and Mrs. Diana Folsom and her husband, Kenneth, of Grovespring, Mo.; grandchildren, Jodi Ritts Calabrese, Rebecca Sue Hammonds, William David Ritts, Mary Suzanne Hammonds Bradrick, Jessica Ritts Cadkin, Thomas Kemp Hammonds and Jennifer Cadkin Crowder; four great-grandchildren; and a number of nephews and nieces.

Mrs. Ritts was preceded in death by her husband, William E Ritts, who passed away July 9, 1963; one son, Frederick D.; two brothers, George and Jack Weitzel; and two sisters, Elizabeth White and Jane Brunner

<B>RITTS</B> — Friends of Eleanor W. Ritts, who died Friday, Dec. 3, 2010, will be received at the <B>Thompson-Miller Funeral Home</B>, 124 E. North St., Butler, Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be at the Covenant Presbyterian Church, 230 E. Jefferson St., Butler, at 11 a.m. Wednesday with the Rev. James Swanson officiating. Interment will follow in North Side Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are requested to the Covenant Presbyterian Church, 230 E.
