Robert I. Keck Sr., ex-car dealer owner

Robert I. “Bob” Keck Sr., 89, formerly of Mayfield Avenue, Butler, died at 9:10 p.m. Saturday in the Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Born Oct. 24, 1921, in Butler, he was the son of the late Ira E. Keck and Hazel Wolfe Keck.

Mr. Keck was the owner of Keck Chrysler in Butler from where he retired in 2003.

He served in the Army Air Corps at Maxwell Field from 1943 to 1946 as a pilot and flight instructor

He was a member of the First English Lutheran Church, the Butler Elks and the Masons.

Mr. Keck enjoyed boating, flying and traveling.

Mr. Keck is survived by his wife, Carol J. Vasbinder Keck, who he married June 11, 1983; two sons, Robert I. Keck Jr. and his wife, Karen, of Butler and John B. Keck, of Wexford; two daughters, Susan E. Montgomery and her husband, Richard, of Poland, Ohio, and Christine K. McCurdy of Greenville; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are two stepsons, Roger Vasbinder and Larry Vasbinder, both of Butler; two stepdaughters, Carol Weger of Ravenna, Ohio, and Kathie Rankin of San Diego, Calif.; a number of step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; one sister, Jean Wiles of Butler; one niece; and one nephew.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Keck was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary H. Keck, who passed away June 1, 1978.

<B>KECK</B> — Friends of Robert I. “Bob” Keck Sr., who died Saturday, Dec. 4, 2010, will be received at the <B>Thompson-Miller Funeral Home</B>, 124 E. North St., Butler, Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Funeral services will follow at 3 p.m. at the First English Lutheran Church, 241 N. Main St., Butler, with the Rev. James W. Dollhopf officiating. Interment will follow in North Side Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to First English Lutheran Church, 241 N.
