Children's Museum entertains young minds
PITTSBURGH — Events taking place now and in the future at the Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh, 10 Children’s Way, Allegheny Square, include:
• “Whoosh! It’s All About Air” continues daily through May 29.
Visitors can step inside a Whirlwind Room, climb in the cockpit of an old airplane, build and launch rockets, and experiment with light and bubbles to create colorful sculptures in this interactive exhibit.
• Child ID Program, from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday.
Free Child ID packages from New York Life’s Child ID Program will be available.
• “The Legend of Baba Yaga” puppet show by We’re Holden Puppets, with shows at 1, 2 and 3 p.m. Sunday, plus the opportunity to create your own puppet between shows.
• Splink, an imaginative performance by dancers, instrumentalists, singers, actors, performance poets and circus artists from Pittsburgh area high schools, with shows at 1:30 and 2:30 p.m. Jan. 29 and 30.
Weekly programs at the Children’s Museum include classes on clay and woodworking, Take Apart Classes and Tot Time.
Museum hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays to Saturdays and noon to 5 p.m. Sundays.
Admission is $11 for adults, $10 for children ages 2 to 18 and senior citizens, and free for children younger than 2. Parking is $5 for nonmembers or $3 for members. On-street, metered parking also is available.
