Andrew Soltesz Sr.
Andrew J. Soltesz Sr., 83, of Zelienople died Saturday at Creek Meadows Senior Guest Haus, Zelienople.
Born March 12, 1927, in Zelienople, he was the son of Julius and Anna (Blizman) Soltesz.
Mr. Soltesz was a life-long member of the St. Gregory Catholic Church, Zelienople, where he was a member of the Knights of Columbus.
He was a U.S. Army Korean War veteran, and he also served in the Merchant Marines.
Mr. Soltesz was a life member of the Zelienople Hungarian Beneficial Society and a member of the Zelienople American Legion Post 474. He was a former member of the Cranberry Elks, the Harmony Moose and the Harmony Volunteer Fire Company. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He is survived by a daughter, Kathy A. Wehr (John) of Butler; two sons, Andrew J. “Scooter” Soltesz Jr. of Zelienople and Thomas W. Soltesz (Holly) of Portersville; a brother, Julius Soltesz of St. Louis, Mo.; and three grandchildren, Joanna and Craig Wehr and Anthony Soltesz, U.S. Air Force.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Frances (Kocevar) Soltesz, who died April 2, 2002; three brothers, James, Joseph and Stephen Soltesz; and a sister, Mary Buko.
<B>SOLTESZ </B>— Friends of Andrew J. Soltesz Sr., who died Saturday, Dec. 18, 2010, will be received from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at <B>Boylan Funeral Home</B>, 324 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the St. Gregory Catholic Church, 2 W. Beaver St., Zelienople.
