Richard E. Dumbaugh Sr.
Richard E. Dumbaugh Sr., 86, of Butler passed away of mesothelioma Saturday at Good Samaritan Hospice in Cabot.
He was born Feb. 16, 1924, in Butler, the son of John Edward Dumbaugh and Eva (Griffith) Dumbaugh, who are deceased.
Richard was a member of the St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church of Butler, where he belonged to the Homebuilders Sunday school class.
He was in the 11th Airborne Division of the U.S. Army during World War II.
After his military service, Richard worked at Armco Steel. He worked at Ferne's Electric for 40 years and was a retired electrician from Local 5, formerly Local 10.
Richard was a member of the Victory Lodge 694, where he was past master in 1972, the York Rite, the Syria Shrine, the Shrine Luncheon Club, and the Acacia Club.
He was a member of the Butler VFW, the Butler County Horseshoe League, McCarren's Traveling Bowling League, the Senior Golf League at Stoughton Acres and the Tanglewood Center. He was a board member of the Butler Water Authority.
Surviving are his wife of 64 years, Wilda Y. (Ferne) Dumbaugh of Butler; a daughter, Sheila (Rodney) Abraham of Butler; a son, Richard E. (Ann) Dumbaugh Jr. of Butler; three grandchildren, Chaz Dumbaugh, Rebecca (Mark) Precise and Melissa (Chad) LeViere; eight great-grandchildren; and a sister, Leila Protzman of Butler.
He was preceded in death by three sisters and three brothers.
<B>Dumbaugh</B> — Friends of Richard E. Dumbaugh Sr., who died Saturday, Dec. 18, 2010, will be received at <B>Young Funeral Home</B>, 127 W. Jefferson St., Butler, Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. Services will be at the funeral home at 11 a.m. Thursday with Carol Fleeger, lay minister, officiating. Interment will be in the Gruenwald Cemetery, Butler.Masonic services are scheduled for 6:45 p.m. Wednesday.In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the St. Marks Evangelical Lutheran Church, 201 W.
