Karl Terry Schoeffel, 67, of Evans City died Thursday at his home surrounded by his family.

Born May 4, 1943, he was the son of Stanley and Mary (Purvis) Schoeffel.

Terry was an avid harness racing enthusiast who, as an owner, was an active member of USTA since 1970 and was licensed as a driver/trainer for eight years.

He was also an active member of PFHHA since it originated serving as president the last three years. In addition, Terry was also a member of PHHA and MSOA.

He retired as a fluid power engineer from the Herr Voss Corp. after 35 years in the steel industry.

Terry was also a member and former secretary of the Hungarian Beneficial Society in Zelienople.

Above all else, Terry enjoyed his family, making them his top priority, especially his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Virginia “Ginny” (Kollek) Schoeffel who he married Feb. 17, 1962; five children, Michael (Cathy) Schoeffel, Richard (Cheryl) Schoeffel, Stephen (Kathy) Schoeffel, Laura Oldin (her fiancee Terry Altmeyer) all of Evans City, and Christopher Schoeffel of Callery; 10 grandchildren, Ashley (Steve) Hughes of Beaver, Justin and Jessica Schoeffel, Michelle Avallone, Brian Sarver, Brett and Brooke Schoeffel, Nick and Kaitlyn Johnston, all of Evans City, and Kylee Schoeffel of Callery; two great-grandchildren, Braden Sarver and Landon Avallone; one brother, Dr. Thomas (Debbie) Schoeffel of Evans City; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Samuel Schoeffel, and his granddaughter, Kirsten Schoeffel.

<B>SCHOEFFEL</B> — Friends of Karl Terry Schoeffel, who died Thursday, Dec. 23, 2010, will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday and 1 to 4 p.m. Monday at the <B>Boylan Funeral Home</B>, 116 E.
