The Butler County Symphony Orchestra’s next concert will feature classical guitarist Marco Sartor.

The theme for the concert at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 12 at the Butler Intermediate High School Auditorium is “Romance.”

Sartor, a native of Uruguay, is a top prize winner in numerous international competitions and has performed extensively across the United States, South America and Europe.

He has appeared with diverse orchestras such as the Allentown Symphony, Virginia Symphony, Buffalo Philharmonic, Regional Orchestra of Chile and Sodre Orchestra of Uruguay.

Sartor has been invited to give master classes at a number of universities and conservatories. He started the guitar programs at the Carnegie Mellon Music Preparatory School in Pittsburgh and the Charleston Academy of Music in Charleston, S.C., where he is a faculty member.

He will perform the “Concierto de Aranjuez” by Joaquin Rodrigo.

The concert will open with Glinka’s “Russlan and Ludmilla Overture,” a tale of love and marriage. The orchestra also will play Danish composer Carl Nielsen’s “Symphony No. 3 Op. 27 (Sinfonia espansiva).”

High school students will be recognized at this performance.

In addition, the ensemble Lyric Strings will perform in the lobby prior to the concert.
