Library donor thanked
A thank-you is in order to the anonymous donor who paid the maintenance fee for 2011 to Slippery Rock Park for the Slippery Rock Community Library. At a time when money is tight and services are being cut, it is wonderful to have someone step up to pay this fee so that the library can use its small operating budget to better serve the literary needs of the community.
Last year, more than 6,500 patrons used our 289-square-foot library and checked out nearly 11,000 items.
This anonymous gift will take some of the fundraising pressure off the library and the Friends group that must raise all the money used to run the library.
Although SRCL is a small library, the Friends have big plans for the future. With the help of people like the anonymous donor, we are hoping to move to a bigger library, expand our collection and hours of operation, and offer more services.
Currently, because of our limited space, we only are able to have one computer for use by the public. Also, our book collection is limited because of space.
The librarian is constantly taking books out of circulation to make room for current bestsellers that are often donated by library patrons.
This gift will make it possible to keep all of our current library services.
Thanks again to the anonymous donor and to all of the supporters of the library.
