Ralph M. Nebel
Ralph M. Nebel, 89, of Bonniebrook Road, Butler, died Thursday evening at Concordia Lutheran Ministries in Cabot.
He was born in Butler, May 17, 1921, a son of the late Joseph and Elizabeth Schreiner Nebel.
Ralph, along with his brother, George, owned and operated Joseph Nebel Sons Water Well Drilling in Herman from 1934 until their retirement in 1982, but he continued to help with the family business for many more years.
He was a member of the St. Mary of the Assumption Roman Catholic Church in Herman, and he was a charter member of the Herman Volunteer Fire Department.
Ralph and George were good baseball players as young men. They played for the Herman team and tried out for the St. Louis Cardinals. Ralph loved his garden and enjoyed being with his grandchildren and watching them play sports.
Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Margaret E. Tomsey Nebel, who he married May 30, 1950; four sons, Dr. Thomas R. Nebel and his wife, Cecilia, Dr. Donald A. Nebel and his wife, Josi, and David L. Nebel and his wife, Denise, all of Butler, and Dr. Stanley R. Nebel and his wife, Debra, of Franklin; a daughter, Bernadette Peduto and her husband, James, of Glenshaw; a sister, Leona Coyle of Cabot, and 13 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Joseph, Francis and George Nebel, who died July 10, 2010; and a sister, Ethel Nebel.
<B>NEBEL</B> — Friends of Ralph M. Nebel, who died Thursday, Jan. 27, 2011, will be received at the <B>Geibel Funeral Home</B>, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday at the St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Herman.
