Ruth E. Eckert

Ruth E. Eckert, 93, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Dec. 21.

Ruth was born in Butler, the younger daughter of J. Linn and Maggie Emrick.

She graduated from Butler High School and Muskingum College with a degree in chemistry and was a registered laboratory technician.

She worked for the H.J. Heinz Co., the Rochester, General Hospital in New York and Englewood General Hospital in New Jersey.

She married Dr. Robert Eckert in 1945, and they lived in Meridian until moving to a retirement community in Roanoke, Va., in 2004 because of declining health.

She is survived by her husband, Dr. Robert Eckert; two sons, Thomas Eckert of Roanoke, Va., and Dr. Joel Eckert of Peoria, Ill.; and five grandchildren.

Ruth was predeceased by her sister, Esther Emrick of Glenshaw.

Eckert, who died Tuesday, Dec. 21, 2010, will be at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 30, at Butler County Memorial Park.Arrangements are by the <B>Thompson-Miller Funeral Home</B>, Butler; and information and a private guest book are available at www.thompson-miller.com.
