Arthur Croll

Arthur Croll, 95, of Cranberry Township entered into rest on Dec. 4, 2010.

Mr. Croll was born in Buffalo, N.Y.

He attended Lehigh University and received a bachelor's in mechanical engineering.

He worked in several locations across the country before transferring to the Savannah River Plant in Aiken, S.C., with DuPont in 1953. He retired in 1977 as the site works engineer. For his work in engineering, he was recognized as an ASME Fellow.

He moved to Sherwood Oaks in Cranberry Township in 1983.

Mr. Croll was actively involved with the Boy Scouts of America and was awarded the Silver Beaver for his service.

He also was an enthusiastic rock collector and polisher and was a founding member of the Aiken Gem & Mineral Club and a member of the Moraine Rock Busters. His hobbies included sphere making for which he won best in show at a national gem show in Washington, D.C.; Chinese brush painting and exhibited his work in an art exhibition in China; and enameled jewelry making.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Irene Fleshman Croll.

His survivors include his son, Philip Croll of Aiken, S.C.; two grandchildren, Nathan Croll of St. Louis and Tiffany Horschel of Charleston, S.C.; and five great-grandchildren.

<B>CROLL </B>— A memorial service for Arthur Croll, who died Saturday, Dec. 4, 2010, will be at 2 p.m. Jan. 15, 2011, at the Sherwood Oaks Retirement Community with the Rev. Douglas Turner officiating.Memorials may be directed to the Sherwood Oaks Employee Education Fund, 100 Norman Drive, Cranberry Township, PA 16066.
