Second City brings laughs to academy
PITTSBURGH — The legendary improv comedy troupe The Second City will appear as part of Shady Side Academy’s Hillman Performing Arts Series at 7 p.m. Saturday.
The performance will take place in the Hillman Center for Performing Arts on Shady Side Academy’s Senior School campus at 423 Fox Chapel Road.
Tickets are $25 for adults, $20 for senior citizens and $15 for students, and are available by calling 412-968-3040 or online at www.thehillman.org.
The Second City, specializing in sketch comedy and improvisation, has been performing for more than 50 years. Audience suggestion and participation steer the song-and-dance humor.
Alumni of The Second City include Steve Carrell, Gilda Radner, Mike Myers, Adam Sandler, Jim Belushi and Tina Fey.
The Second City is the third of five shows in the performing arts series. Remaining shows include the acrobatics of Cirque Mechanics’ Boom Town on March 19 and the U.S. premiere of internationally acclaimed Théâtre Tout a Trac’s “Alice in Wonderland” on April 16.
