James W. Shirey
James W. Shirey, 84, of Butler died Wednesday evening at the Good Samaritan Hospice, Concordia Lutheran Ministries, Cabot.
Born Jan. 27, 1927, in Foxburg, he was a son of the late Rollo and Grace (Gates) Shirey.
He had worked for the Stewart Warner Alemite Sales Co. as a sales engineer for industrial lubrication systems for the steel industry until his retirement in 1989.
James was a member of the St. Paul Roman Catholic Church in Butler, the VFW Post 249 in Butler, the Butler Elks and the American Legion in St. Petersburg, Clarion County.
He was a master carpenter and builder, had enjoyed golfing and playing cards and was a devoted family man.
Surviving are his wife, Carolyn O. (O'Donnell) Shirey, who he married June 16, 1948; a daughter, Lisa M. Monday and her husband, Henry Monday Jr. of Fenelton; three grandsons, Adam, Allen and Austin Monday; a granddaughter, Aimee Monday; a sister, Mrs. James (Barbara) Brown of Bruin; a brother, William Shirey of Emlenton; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Shirey.
<B>Shirey </B>— Friends of James W. Shirey, who died Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2011, will be received at the <B>Geibel Funeral Home</B>, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday at 10 a.m. at the St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, 128 N. McKean St., Butler.
