Indifference holds sway in election
Although the election season will bring several contested races, indifference reigns in many communities where open seats will have unopposed candidates or no candidates at all.
Of the 92 municipal positions in this election, 42 will be contested. Unopposed candidates will look to claim 36 positions, and several seats will remain vacant unless filled by write-in candidates.
Republican candidates make up the majority of petitioners for office, with 92 individuals submitting their names for the ballot. Democrats have 33 names on the ballot this spring.
Here is a look at elections in the county. The list does not include the offices of auditor, tax collector and constable.
All offices have one seat open unless otherwise specified.
Information is from the Butler County Bureau of Elections, based on municipal nomination petitions filed for the May 17 primary.
