Betty P. (Six) McClure, 82, of Sixth Street, East Brady, passed away Saturday evening at the VNA Inpatient Hospice in Butler following complications from surgery for colon cancer.

Born Sept. 5, 1928, in Clarion County, Betty was the daughter of Edith McElroy. She was raised by Lee and Sadie Nulph in Snyder Hollow, Armstrong County.

Betty was well known for her excellent cooking and baking and had published a cookbook, “Betty's Favorite Recipes.”

She retired from the Armstrong County Health Center in Kittanning after 14 years. Before that, she worked for local doctors as a housekeeper.

She was a devoted Steelers fan and loved to talk politics.

Betty had a large family of eight children, who were the light of her life.

She is survived by two sons, Steven Six of Karns City and Dan Six of East Brady; and three daughters, Cinda Six and her husband, Harry Boltz, of Petrolia, Edie Pennington and her husband, Bob, of East Brady, and Becky Six and her husband, Paul Edmunds, of Flanders, N.J. She also is survived by 12 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her former husband, Robert F. McClure; her daughter, Sherry Baker Silvis; and two sons, Randy Six and Mike Six.

<B>MCCLURE</B> — Friends of Betty P. (Six) McClure, who died Saturday, Feb. 12, 2011, will be received at the <B>Hile Funeral Home of Chicora</B>, 339 Chicora Fenelton Road, Chicora, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with Pastor Paul DeBacco, pastor of Crisswell Bible Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will follow in Bradys Bend Cemetery, Bradys Bend Township, Armstrong County.Online condolences may be sent by visiting www.hilefh.com.
