Hunkele

Virginia R. “Virgie” (Reed) Hunkele, 83, of Hampton Township died Monday at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Born Feb. 9, 1928, in Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of the late James and Edna (Lowrey) Reed.

She was the beloved wife of the late James M. Hunkele, who died Oct. 17, 1998. She also was preceded in death by two siblings, Florence Day and James Reed.

Mrs. Hunkele was the loving mother of Donald (Martha) Hunkele of Hampton Township, Linda Hunkele of Bakerstown, Brian Hunkele of Middlesex Township and Glenn (Debra) Hunkele of Hampton Township; the sister of Chick Reed; and the dear grandmother of Greg (Crystal), Jana (Rob) Messmer, Sara, Anna, Kathryn, Chris, Ashlee, Rachel, Nathan and Mark. Also surviving are three great-grandchildren, Donovan, Evan and Kayla.

<B>HUNKELE</B> — The family of Virginia R. “Virgie” (Reed) Hunkele, who died Monday, Feb. 14, 2011, will welcome friends Wednesday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the <B>Schellhaas Funeral Home</B>, 5864 Heckert Road, Bakerstown. A Mass of Christian burial will be Thursday at 10:30 a.m. in the St. Richard Church, 3841 Dickey Road, Richland Township, with Father Thomas A. Sparacino as celebrant.
