MOUNT LAUREL, N.J. — NFL Films president Steve Sabol will undergo radiation and chemotherapy treatment after doctors discovered a tumor on the left side of his brain.
NFL.com cites an NFL Films statement Friday about the 68-year-old Sabol, who was hospitalized March 5 in Kansas City, Mo., after suffering a seizure.
“(Sabol) will begin treatments soon,” the company's statement said. “Steve is in good spirits and is deeply appreciative of everyone's good wishes.”
Sabol has worked with NFL Films since 1964. His father, Ed, was elected on the day before the Super Bowl last month to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio.

PHOENIX — Angela Stanford holed out from a fairway bunker for eagle on the par-4 ninth hole and shot a 6-under 66 to take the first-round lead in the LPGA Founders Cup, the tour's play-for-free U.S. opener.Instead of paying the players, the tournament honoring the 13 tour founders is donating $1 million to charity — half to The LPGA Foundation and its LPGA-USGA Girls Golf program and half to the top-10 finishers' designated charities.Brittany Lincicome matched Aree Song at 67, and 50-year-old Juli Inkster, Sophie Gustafson, Beatriz Recari, Amelia Lewis, Mina Harigae and Nannette Hill followed at 68.
PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. — The New York Mets released second baseman Luis Castillo, although he is owed $6 million this year.General manager Sandy Alderson informed Castillo of the decision Friday morning with approval from Mets owner Jeff Wilpon.Alderson said at a news conference that there were a variety of reasons for letting Castillo go. He added that given where the organization was headed, it was “in our mutual interest.”The 35-year-old Castillo was preparing for the final season of a four-year, $24 million contract. He batted .235 with no homers and 17 RBI in 247 at-bats last season before losing his starting spot to Ruben Tejada and Luis Hernandez.<B></B>
