Charles F. Snyder
Charles F. Snyder, 87, of West Sunbury passed away at 1 p.m. Saturday at his home.
He was born Aug. 10, 1923, in Akron, Ohio. He was the son of the late George C. and Florence (Montgomery) Snyder.
Charles was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in New Guinea, the Philippines and Japan in World War II.
He retired from Firestone after 23 years in September 1978.
He was a member of the Butler County Treasure Hunters, and he enjoyed camping and fishing.
Surviving are his wife of 53 years, L. Jane (Fleeger) Kildoo Snyder; three daughters, Joan (John) Murphy of Butler, Beverly (Robert) Capello of Slippery Rock and Judy (Larry) Grossman of Slippery Rock; three sons, D. “Craig” (Sylvia) Snyder of Boyers, Dennis (Cindy) Kildoo of Butler and Larry (Gloria) Snyder of Slippery Rock; 16 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; a niece; and two nephews.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Marie (Maddalena) Snyder; a stepson, Larry Kildoo; and his brother, William Snyder.
<B>SNYDER</B> — Friends of Charles F. Snyder, who died Saturday, Feb. 19, 2011, will be received at the <B>William F. Young Funeral Home</B>, West Sunbury, Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with his granddaughter, the Rev. Connie Dunn, officiating. Burial will be in the West Sunbury Cemetery.
