John Herrock

John Herrock, 80, of Butler died Sunday evening at Butler Memorial Hospital.

Born in Lyndora, July 14, 1930, he was a son of the late George and Julia Zavacky Herrock.

John retired in 1991 from the masonry department of the Butler plant of the Armco Steel Corp., where he worked for 42 years.

He enjoyed the outdoors, and hunting, fishing and tying fishing lures were his hobbies. He also enjoyed feeding birds, turkeys and other wildlife.

A military veteran, he had served his country during the Korean War with the Pennsylvania Army National Guard.

Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Sarah Hinton Herrock, who he married July 9, 1960; three children, John E. Herrock of Monroe, La., Gretchen E. Herrock of Pittsburgh and Sharon Herrock of Butler; four grandchildren, Caitlin, Emma, Olivia and Owen Herrock, all of Louisiana; and three sisters, Eleanor Kissel of Natrona Heights and Grace Herrock and Lois Simmer, both of Butler.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Edward and Raymond Herrock.

<B>HERROCK</B> — No visitation or funeral service is planned for John Herrock, who died Sunday, Feb. 20, 2011.The family suggests that memorial donations could be directed to the Butler County Humane Society, 1015 Evans City Road, Renfrew, PA 16053.Cremation services were provided by the <B>Geibel Funeral Home</B>, Butler, and information also is available at www.geibelfuneralhome.com.
