JEFFERSON TWP — The Knoch youth wrestling program is sending three competitors to the state tournament, which begins today in Wilkes-Barre.

Eric Green (90 pounds) and Josh Goodlin (95) will compete in the 10-and-under division.

In 12-and-under action, Austin Warman will wrestle at 125 pounds.

All three wrestlers earned a spot at states by performing well at the recent Area VII championships at Upper St. Clair High. Warman and Green placed first and Goodlin was second.

BUFFALO TWP — Tonight's Lernerville Speedway season opener was postponed because of the expected cold temperatures.The track's first show of the season is now set for next Friday.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — The Grove City College 200 medley relay team of Jenny Ryan, Angela Palumbo, Kaitlin Riesmeyer and Sarah Page placed 14th Wednesday at the NCAA Division III Women's Swimming and Diving Championships.The top 15 finishers earn All-America status. The quartet set a school record time in the preliminaries at 1 minute, 46.12 seconds.

ERIE — Slippery Rock High School junior Kelsey Reott was named District 10 Region 1 Swimmer of the Year.Reott was first-team all-region in the 100 backstroke and 100 breaststroke.Freshman teammate Katie Antal was first-team all-region in the 100 breaststroke and 200 individual medley.The quartet of Reott, Antal, Nicole Moraitis and Katie Kosiorek were all-region in the 200 medley relay.Slippery Rock's Brandon Bridges was second-team in the boys 500 freestyle.

SARASOTA, Fla. — Pirates starter Ross Ohlendorf yielded three homers in another ineffective outing, and the Baltimore Orioles beat the Pirates 11-7 Thursday.Ohlendorf (0-4) gave up six runs and nine hits in 4X\c innings. The right-hander has allowed a total of 16 runs over 9X\c innings in his last three starts.Neil Walker hit two solo homers and Lyle Overbay had a two-run shot for the Pirates. Josh Rodriguez also homered for Pittsburgh.
