• The 2010-11 Performing Arts Series at BC3 will feature the Pittsburgh Philharmonic in “Rach and Role”on Saturday and “Second to None” on May 21.

All shows are in the Succop Theater on campus.

• BC3's Mary Hulton Phillips Gallery hosts a photography show by BC3 student Brian Owen through March 31. The gallery is in the Science, Technology and Cultural Center Building adjacent to the Succop Theater. The gallery is open during Succop Theater performances. Six SRU music faculty will perform songs from “Birth of the Cool,” a classic Miles Davis recording, when they present a Faculty Jazz Concert at 7:30 p.m. tonight in Swope Music Hall on campus. The group will play nine of the album's 12 songs, including its most enduring number “Boplicity.”Admission is $3 for students and $5 for adults.

Five master’s of fine arts candidates from CMU’s School of Art are presenting their thesis work in “Up Down Up Down” through April 17 at the Miller Gallery in the Purnell Center for the Arts on campus.Gallery hours are noon to 6 p.m. Tuesdays through Sundays.Admission is free.
