Arthur Summerville
Arthur J. Summerville, 85, of Rimersburg passed away Friday at ACMH Hospital, Kittanning.
He was born Nov. 16, 1925, in Sandy Hollow, Rimersburg, the son of Walter and Millie (Courson) Summerville.
Mr. Summerville honorably served his country in the U.S. Navy in World War II, and he took part in the Pacific theater.
He was employed with Penreco in the shipping department, retiring in 1988.
Arthur was a member of the Clarion Masonic Lodge 277 F&AM, the New Castle Consistory and the Sheriff's Association.
Arthur was a resident of the Rimersburg area his entire life. He was a man of the outdoors, where he enjoyed a lifetime of fishing and hunting. He was never happier than when mowing grass and took great pride in his lawn. He also liked woodworking, but his most precious moments were those spent with his loved ones.
He will be deeply missed by his wife, Sarah (McKinney) Summerville, who he married May 10, 1947, and they shared nearly 64 wonderful years of marriage; a son, George Summerville and his wife, Carol, of Zelienople; two daughters, Pat Brothers and her husband, Chuck, of Rimersburg, and Tracy Hamilton and her husband, Duane, of Cleveland, Texas; two grandchildren, Shelly Stoops and her husband, William, and Jeremy Brothers and his wife, Karissa; and two great-grandchildren, Logan Stoops and Bradyn Brothers.
Arthur was the last surviving member of his immediate family, and in addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Rick Summerville; three brothers, and two sisters.
<B>SUMMERVILLE</B> — Relatives and friends of Arthur J. Summerville, who died Friday, March 25, 2011, may visit from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the <B>Bauer-Hillis Funeral Home and Cremation Services</B>, 758 Main St., Rimersburg, where a Masonic service will be held at 7 p.m. today. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with Pastor Mark Pollock officiating. Military honors presented by the Rimersburg American Legion Post 454 and the VFW Post 7132 immediately will follow the service.
