Chimney fire extinguished quickly

FRANKLIN TWP — Firefighters Tuesday night extinguished flames in a chimney at a Minteer Road residence.

Chief Frank Wilson of the Prospect Volunteer Fire Department said this morning the blaze was put out by dropping a dry chemical bag into the chimney.-

He said the fire’s cause was creosote buildup in the chimney.

No one was injured and the occupants were able to stay in the home.

About 20 firefighters responded to the 8:15 p.m. call.

The Unionville and Portersville volunteer fire departments assisted Prospect. Crews left the scene at 9:01 p.m.
