LOS ANGELES — The NBA fined Kobe Bryant $100,000 for using a derogatory gay term in frustration over a referee's call.

NBA Commissioner David Stern issued a swift disciplinary ruling after the Los Angeles Lakers' five-time NBA champion guard cursed and used the homophobic slur when referee Bennie Adams called a technical foul on him during the third quarter of a victory over the San Antonio Spurs.

The Big 12 Conference and Fox Sports announced a 13-year cable TV deal that officials say will ensure the long-term stability of the league.The deal, which starts with the 2012 football season, will pay the conference $90 million a year a person within the industry told The Associated Press.

SLIPPERY ROCK— Slippery Rock University men's track and field standout Chris Warning was named to the PSACTop 10 Wednesday.To be a candidate for a PSAC Top 10 award, the student-athlete must have achieved a minimum 3.50 grade point average and be a starter or key reserve with legitimate athletic credentials.Warning carries a 3.65 GPA as a criminal justice major and was named Most Outstanding Field Athlete at the PSAC Indoor Championsjhips.SRU has had at least one student-athlete named to each of the last five Top 10 teams and 14 of the last 15.

SLIPPERY ROCK — Slippery Rock University junior pitcher Zach Jeney has been named Atlantic Regional Pitcher of the Week by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association.The left-hander tossed a two-hit shutout last weekend against Gannon, striking out 13.SRU (19-11, 8-4) leads the PSAC West as it travels to Indiana (Pa.) for a 1 p.m. doubleheader Friday.
