Lloyd C. Shoop, 79, of Zelienople died Friday at Butler Memorial Hospital surrounded by his family.

Born May 18, 1931, in Tarentum, he was the son of Chester Glenn and Stephanie Dolores (Vogel) Shoop.

Lloyd was a member of St. Gregory Catholic Church in Zelienople, the Zelienople American Legion 474, the Harmony Moose 957, the Zelienople Sportsmen's Club, and he was a lifetime Zelienople firefighter and a rescue scuba diver.

He proudly served his country as a navigator in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War.

He was an avid sportsman and admirer of the outdoors who loved to hunt, fish, garden and to participate in turkey shoots.

He was a 40-year machinist who was a tool and die maker for Halstead Mitchell.

Above all, Lloyd was a man who genuinely loved and treasured his family.

He is survived by his five children, Teresa Lukes and her husband, Richard, of Fombell, Michael Shoop and his wife, Lisa, of Butler, Sandra Witney and her husband, Robert, of Zelienople, Angela Alberth and her husband, Christopher, of Fombell, and Valerie Armstrong and her husband, Dexter, of Ellwood City; three brothers, Lawrence Shoop and his wife, Carol, of Zelienople, Chester Shoop and his wife, Shirley, of New Brighton, and Allen Anderson and his wife, Joann, of Johnsonburg; one sister, Shirley Hughes and her husband, Bob, of Natrona Heights; 13 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Lloyd was preceded in death by his wife, Marlene A. Shoop, on Sept. 22, 2009.

<B>SHOOP</B> — The family of Lloyd C. Shoop, who died Friday, March 18, 2011, will welcome friends on Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the <B>Boylan Funeral Home</B>, 324 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople.A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10 a.m. at St. Gregory Catholic Church, 2 W. Beaver St., Zelienople, with the Rev. William Dorner officiating. Entombment with military honors will follow in the Zelienople Community Mausoleum.If desired, memorial contributions may be made in his honor to St. Gregory Catholic Church, 2 W.
