Butler School Board sets special meeting to spell out teacher concessions
A special meeting of the Butler School Board is set for 7:30 a.m. Tuesday to ratify a memorandum of understanding that spells out concessions by the Butler teachers union in light of cuts proposed in the 2011-12 state education subsidies.
Teachers and school officials reopened the teachers’ contract, and teachers are making a $750,000 concession to the district.
Top school administrators also have made financial concessions.
The meeting will be in the lower boardroom of the district administration building.
The school will not seek a property tax increase beyond a state-allowed 1.67 mills to make ends meet in 2011-12. Its final district budget is due June 30.
For this school year, the district relied upon $4.9 million from its rainy day fund and a 3-mill property tax increase to balance the budget.
This year’s budget is $94.72 million.
