John Sloboda Jr.
John P. Sloboda Jr., 85, of Butler died Sunday at the VNA Inpatient Hospice in Butler.
Born April 27, 1925, in Williamsburg, Pa., he was a son of the late John and Catherine (Gerich) Sloboda.
He worked as a limestone miner for the Michigan Limestone Co. in Annandale and also for the Winfield Lime and Stone Co. He also worked in the erection department for the Pullman Standard Car Co. in Butler for 11 years until the plant closed.
He was a member of the St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church in Butler.
A veteran World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy and the Merchant Marines.
Surviving are his three sons and their wives, John and Brenda Sloboda III of Butler, Rocco and Darlene Sloboda of Butler and Steven and Cynthia Sloboda of Sebastian, Fla.; two daughters and their husbands, Gloria Jean and Raymond Ramelli of Butler and Patricia Marie and Mark McKinney of High Point, N.C.; 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandson; and his companion, Carol Ann Hoover of Butler.
He was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter and three brothers.
