Vera Roskovski
Vera Canan Roskovski, 89, formerly of Linsdale Drive and The Orchard, Butler, died peacefully Sunday morning at Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born in Evans City, April 28, 1921, a daughter of Maisie Canan and her stepfather, William Chaney.
Vera had worked as a dental assistant and office manager for Dr. Guy Brandberg in Butler for more than 30 years.
She was a lifelong member of St. John Roman Catholic Church in Lyndora until the church closed, and was a current member of St. Fidelis Roman Catholic Church in Meridian.
She married her beloved husband, Michael A. “Iron Mike” Roskovski, in St. John Catholic Church on April 10, 1940, and celebrated 65 wonderful years together until his death May 15, 2005.
Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandsons and great-grandchildren.
She will be sadly missed by her three surviving grandsons, Shawn Roskovski and his wife, Rebecca, Scott and his wife Stephanie Roskovski and Derek and his wife Dayna Roskovski, all of Butler; six great-grandchildren, Chloe, Canan, Jacob, Sophia, Andrew and Isabelle; and a special former daughter-in-law: Sylvia (Archie) Mann of Butler.
She was preceded in death by her son, Michael W. “Mickey” Roskovski in May 2008; three brothers, William, James and Ronald Canan; and two sisters, Dorothy and Arly.
<B>ROSKOVSKI </B>— Friends of Vera Canan Roskovski, who died Sunday, April 3, 2011, will be received at <B>Geibel Funeral Home</B>, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday. A funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. The Rev. Richard Rowe, a retired Presbyterian minister will officiate.
