Robert J. Shanahan
Robert J. Shanahan, 90, of Mars died Tuesday morning at UPMC Passavant hospital in McCandless Township.
Born in Pittsburgh, Dec. 17, 1920, he was the son of the late Lawrence and Emma Shanahan.
Bob was a retired supervisor for Mine Safety Appliance in Callery.
He was a Navy Veteran of World War II and a member of the American Legion.
He belonged to the St. Kilian Church in Mars, where he was a volunteer for the food bank. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Loretta DuCeour Shanahan, who he married May 14, 1966, and who died April 11, 2006. He also was preceded by his brothers, Lawrence, Carl and John; and his sister, Dorothy Shanahan.Surviving are a sister, Emma Gertrude Shanahan of Bethel Park; a brother, Thomas Shanahan of Cecil; and nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Shanahan, who died Tuesday, April 5, 2011, will be received at the <B>McDonald-Aeberli Funeral Home</B>, 238 Crowe Ave., Mars, Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be in the St. Kilian Roman Catholic Church, 205 Clark St,. Mars, Friday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Charles Bober, pastor, officiating.
