Lauretta Bowers, 102, of Butler, died Friday at the VNA Inpatient Hospice, Butler.

She was born March 2, 1909, in Oil City, the daughter of the late Welker Newton Brockway and Margaret “Maggie” Hartzel Brockway.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church.

She had worked as a cook at Morgan's Diner.

Surviving are her five daughters, Alberta Byers of Chicora, Lucille Wetzel of Butler, Mrs. Edgar (Mary) Johns of Worthington, Betty James of Georgia and Sandra Peters of Florida; two sons, Howard L. Brown of Erie and Carl D. Brown of Staunton, Va.; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Elmer R. Brown, who died Sept. 1, 1943, in a mining accident; her second husband, Archie Forrester; her third husband, Lawrence Alfred Bowers; two sons; three daughters; two sisters and five brothers.

<B>BOWERS</B> — Friends of Lauretta Bowers, who died Friday, April 8, 2011, will be received from 1 p.m. until the time of the service at 4 p.m. Sunday, at the <B>Young Funeral Home</B>, Butler, with her grandson, the Rev.
