L. James Kradel

L. James “Jim” Kradel, 69, of Butler died Tuesday at the VNA Inpatient Hospice, Butler, surrounded by his family.

Born Feb. 2, 1942, in Butler, he was the son of the late Doris (Renick) Kradel and Loyal “Bud” Kradel.

He married Juliana “Judy” Koch on Feb. 28, 1961.

He worked 35 years at Armco until retiring in 1999. He owned and operated the A-Plus mini market on the corner of Jefferson and Chestnut streets in Butler for 22 years.

Jim enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, boating, fishing, spending time at his camp and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Juliana; four children, Tammy Gray and her husband, Tom, of Cranberry Township, Laurie Charmo and her husband, Bill, of Hamilton, Va., Jim Kradel and his wife, Kelley, of Imperial and Mark Kradel and his wife, Tricia, of Butler; nine grandchildren, T.J., Matthew, Kelsey and Ryan Gray, Carleigh, Michael and Daniel Charmo and Jake and Aliegh Kradel; four brothers, Robert Kradel of West Sunbury, Ronald Kradel of Florida, Jack Kradel of Butler and Donald Kradel of Portersville; and one sister, Cheryl Toomey of Butler.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Gary.

<B>Kradel </B>— Friends of L. James “Jim” Kradel, who died Tuesday, April 12, 2011, will be received at the <B>Geibel Funeral Home</B>, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler, from 3 until 7 p.m. Thursday. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Friday at 10 a.m. at the St. Andrew Roman Catholic Church, Butler. The Rev. James G. Salberg, pastor, and the Rev.
