Donald R. Leighty
Donald R. Leighty, 87, of Cabot, formerly of Clinton Township, passed away Sunday at Concordia Lutheran Ministries.
Born Nov. 5, 1923, in Tonganoxie, Kan., he was the son of J.E. and Sarah (Groh) Leighty.
He served in the U.S. Coast Guard from 1943 to 1946.
He worked as a warehouseman for Montgomery Ward in Kansas City and in Butler for 44 years, retiring in 1985.
He enjoyed gardening and woodworking.
Surviving are wife, Ella E. (Jeuther) Leighty, who he married May 25, 1948; his daughter, Barbara (John) Phillips of New Bethlehem; two sons, James L. (Diane) Leighty of Midlothian, Va., and Gerald W. (Heidi) Leighty of Oxnard, Calif.; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, a brother and a granddaughter.

Leighty, who died Sunday, April 24, 2011, will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Lund Care Chapel at Concordia Lutheran Ministries, 134 Marwood Road, Cabot.
